This Decision Will Forever Change Your Life...

We are faced with a myriad of choices in life, but there is one decision that can literally shape the outcome of how and where you spend eternity. This my friends is why the gospel of Jesus Christ is so important! Proverbs 14:12 says that there is a way that seems right to man but it leads unto death. If there is a decision out there that seems right but leads to death, there must also be one that leads to life! Matthew 7:14 says that small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it…

If you have never heard the gospel before, it can be summed up in John 3:16-17 which reads: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Eternal life comes through Jesus. In John 14:6 Jesus says that “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody comes to the Father except through me.” This statement draws a line in the sand…a choice for eternal life with the Father, or eternal separation from Him. In other words, we get to choose where and how we spend eternity.

Gods will can be found many places in the Bible, but one of the key verses regarding His heart for us is found in 2 Peter 3:9 which says: “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”

We are God's prized creation! He created us in His image and gave us free will to choose or deny Him. His promise is one rooted in love and He has given us a way to spend eternity with Him, but He will not force Himself upon us. We need to make that decision, and it can be a difficult one to make because there are many factors and forces in the world trying to steer us away from Him. Mark 13:13 even says that “We will be hated for His name's sake, but those who endure to the end will be saved”. The choice is yours.

One of my favorite scriptures in the entire Bible comes from Romans 8:38-39 which gives us a glimpse of how powerful God’s love truly is. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

This love is described in Ephesians 2:8 as a free and undeserved gift from God that we cannot earn or manufacture on our own. It brings salvation and is activated through faith. Furthermore Romans 1:16 says that we should not be ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to EVERYONE who believes.

If you’re wondering if you are saved, or how to get saved, Romans 10:9-10 provides the answer: If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

This is the power behind a simple and uncomplicated gospel. God wants you with Him for eternity! Jesus is the way to make that happen. I urge you to not only invite Him to be your Savior, but to give Him Lordship over your life as well. His finished work on the cross on our behalf paid too big of a price for us to live in oppression, spiritually blind, and outside of His presence. It's all about relationship and being grafted back into a love that has been waiting for you since before you were born.

After you make the decision to believe and follow Him, you’ll be faced with many more decisions to make. The good news is that you do not have to make those decisions alone. He is with you, He is for you, and He is good! Ask Him for guidance, daily immerse yourself in His Word (the Bible), allow your mind to be renewed and transformed through Him, and make your decisions in a way that bring God glory!
